Description: An instructional AR, and phone-agnostic application that leads you through the many steps of making a great pour-over coffee with a Hario-V60
Screenshot of a live camera, with 3D coffee objects augmented onto the screen with instructions guiding the user
This application teaches users to make better coffee with a pour-over method using specifically the Hario-V60, a pillar in artisan coffee-houses. The app guides with using AR to make good coffee using 3D models and animation. The app was created with a great 3-person team under the XRTerra VR program.
Neat Stuff
The app allows users to try different recipes for their pour-over that vary in coffee to water ratio and timing
Users can save their favorite recipes and take pictures for reference of their success
The app is modular and can expand to any type of step-by-step instructional AR app
The app works on multiple surfaces and has audio feedback for all interactions
Room For Improvement
Object tracking was difficult to keep locked in the moving plane, so we opted for 3D augmentation instead
Our UI could use some tightening up, the multiple phones tested with had some issues in scaling
With only 1 week of development, we fell short of the extended features we wanted like object scaling and object caching
We would have liked the object to be more interactive, with finger-press rotating instead of the 'next' buttons
