About me

Hi, I'm Gil Ramirez, and I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Fashion Nova. I've previously worked at Shopify, and ESRI.

I have curiosities and garner hobbies pertaining to Web Dev, Virtual Reality, Storytelling, Baking, Wellness, and Languages.

I may write about some of these interests and my experiences as I work on projects.

Below are blips of important experiences in my life. Contact me if you would like to hear more about them or would just like to reach out.

I was born and raised in East LA, specifically Boyle Heights, to which LA natives would ask if I felt safe there(I did). My parents are Mexican immigrants and I'm proud of my ethnicity and heritage. Growing up below the poverty line has influence my financial goals and goal to support my parents for the sacrifices they've made.

Throughout my teens and in my adulthood, I've been privileged to be able to volunteer at wonderful organizations with lovely people. I've been in leadership roles in organizing these volunteer efforts to engage with people in the community. I continue volunteering where I can locally.

I spent the Fall of 2018 working at Yellowstone National Park as a housekeeper, cleaning up the rooms of guests of the Old Faithful Inn. It was a great experience to have a national park as a backyard and I led backpacking excursions with other workers, guiding them safely through bear country.

You may have noticed the IMDb logo at the footer. Growing up in LA, I enjoyed spending some summers and free time working on film sets as a Production Assistant and Camera assistant on various indie films, and TV pilots.

I spent a month and a half of Fall 2017 backpacking(travel) through Western Europe with a friend. While visiting 9 countries, I fell in love with the richness of the cultures, their languages, and all the people I encountered with their philosophies of life.

I went to college in Maryland and in my junior year, I bought a motorcycle which I used to complete two roundtrips from LA, California to Maryland while camping along the way. I visited 27 of our great states and loved the diversity within our country and landscape.
